I like this shul and recently (finally) joined. I like that it's genuinely Modern Orthodox. I like it that the divrei Torah, while Orthodox, are thought provoking, usually about ethical matters, and never about the importance of having your head tefillin properly centered and suchlike. I like the visiting scholars and/or scholars in residence (but if they're visiting, are they really in residence, and vice versa? never quite understood this). Maybe most of all, and this may just be me, I like the gentleman who leads Pesukei d'Zimrah. Most leaders of Orthodox davening seem to be in a race to the finish line (you hear conversations like "That guy davens great! Didn't understand a word, but he finished in nothing flat!!"); the mezammer pesukim at Skokie Valley takes his time with it. Come on over to SVAJ.
